The Leadership programme contains

The Head Teacher Training Manual contains six Leadership workshops totalling 81 hours. It is designed to be delivered to clusters of schools as one workshop per term for two years. Following the face-to-face workshops, participants are guided with activities activities to try back in school with help and guidance from the School Support Officer and reinforcement from the Head Teacher Video Clips and Head Teacher Handbook.

The programme is aligned to the Standards and criteria for an effective school. These have been designed and approved by the State (in Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara and Lagos). However they are the criteria for any good school and so can be used in different contexts as well.

The Leadership programme has been collaboratively developed using the professional expertise and experiences of the State Universal Basic Education Boards in Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara and Lagos, the State School Improvement Teams, Head Teachers and education specialists from three UKaid-funded programmes: Cambridge Education’s Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN) and Teacher Development Programme (TDP) and UNICEF Girls Education Programme 3 (GEP3). This work has been coordinated by ESSPIN.
