IQTE manual

The IQTE Session notes will assist trainers to deliver a full course of Islamiyya, Qur’anic and Tsangaya Education (IQTE) training to teachers. The IQTE training is designed to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to deliver English, Hausa, maths and social studies lessons alongside Quranic education. The methodologies introduced in the training aim to help teachers manage pupils and lead them to learn effectively and become lifelong learners.

The IQTE training contains 19 Training Modules designed to be delivered over three years. The programme is designed to be delivered as intensive, frequent training in the beginning and training becomes less frequent as participants master the core skills. It is designed to be delivered to clusters of schools. It is recommended that you continue to visit the content of the training after all modules are completed to remind teachers of the skills they have learned and help them put it into practice in the classroom.

The Session notes are designed to be easily used by any IQTE trainer, although in order to make effective use of the material it is desirable that all trainers receive an initial basic training.

The Session notes for IQTE trainers have been collaboratively developed using the professional expertise and experiences of the State Universal Basic Education Boards and State School Improvement Teams in Jigawa, Kaduna and Kano, religious leaders, community members, teachers and education specialists from Cambridge Education’s Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN) funded by UKaid.
